Hinterland Manuka
Hinterland Manuka Honey comes from the most wild and remote parts of the North Island of New Zealand – the true Hinterland. We aim to give honey lovers and those new to our ‘liquid gold’ a whole new experience when enjoying our honey. A taste of our honey is a taste of the mountains, rivers and forests of beautiful New Zealand. Hinterland is one of the few certified organic Manuka honey producers in New Zealand, harvesting from the most wild and remote parts of the country where our hives are not exposed to any sprays, pesticides, insecticides – our only exposure is to Mother Nature. While our premium Mānuka range is the best quality honey available, others can still enjoy the Hinterland difference through our wider range and know it’s produced in the most natural, safe and sustainable environment. The Hinterland hives are run by a small family of beekeepers in the Central North Island, an area that’s our equivalent of France’s Champagne region, except it’s famous for producing the best Mānuka honey. The farm where our beekeeping family is based is a sought-after location by film crews, a truly magical place that will be recognized by many for its scenery and we are now proud to be able to offer a taste of this special place. New Zealand’s rules prevent us from talking about the medicinal benefits of Mānuka honey but there is plenty of evidence that honey like ours has anti-inflammatory properties which can help soothe colds and aid wound healing.

Unique provenance story
The unique colour and taste of our honey is specific to the forests within the
Central North Island, and like a fine whisky will grow in character as it ages over time.
